Montessori

Maria Montessori was the first female doctor in Italy. She worked with children who had learning difficulties. Through her observations she developed exercises and equipment to help and stimulate these children. Most of the children in her care came from illiterate families and through the Montessori programme many were able to go on to mainstream schools and in some cases, were able to go to university. The Montessori teaching method has been tried and tested for over one-hundred years with children from rich and poor backgrounds. It has stood the test of time. Through developing the senses; learning to grade and pair; learning to care and share; confidence and self-esteem improves and learning becomes a fun experience.
